Unreal Tournament 3 Site Goes Live

A new trailer, new screen grabs and a slightly altered name.

While talk of games ”based on” the new Unreal graphics engine has been frenzied for a few years now, an actual Unreal game based on its own engine has seemed a long way off. Now though, we’re getting a little closer…

Epic Games, creator of instant Xbox 360 classic Gears of War, has finally launched the official website for Unreal Tournament III (previously known as the more convoluted UT2k7). Little has been seen of this title since it dropped jaws at last year’s E3, but now gamers can check out a brand new trailer and nine new screen shots.

While in its current guise the UTIII site is little more than a glorified holding page, Epic does still plan to have the game in our homes before the end of the year and it does offer keen followers the chance to sign up for game updates.

Should you have any remotely sweaty spot for the first person shooter genre in general I suggest you mosey on over and take a look. First impressions suggest this could be the year’s biggest rival to Crysis. Furthermore, if you’re running an old rig, I suggest it could prove a keen upgrade motivational tool…
