Two high-end Microsoft Lumia phones said to be coming this year

Microsoft could be planning to launch two new high-end Windows smartphones by the end of 2015, according to a recent report.

The software giant spent some of last week’s Build conference talking about how Windows 10 would scale down to mobile phones, but it didn’t offer any new smartphone hardware.

According to a report on Unleash The Phones, Microsoft will release two new flagship Lumia phones during the second half of this year.

The device codenamed “Cityman” will apparently feature a 5.7-inch  QHD display, a Qualcomm octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (backed by a microSD slot), a 20-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a removable (which is unexpected) 3300 mAh battery.

We did mention there was to be a second Microsoft flagship phone launched this year, and that goes by the codename “Talkman.” It’s a slightly smaller, lower specced device by the looks of it, with a 5.2 inch QHD display and a six-core Qualcomm processor. The rest of the specs are the same, except for a smaller 3000mAh battery.

The report claims that Microsoft is looking to slim this latter device down from the chunky Lumia 930, which was the last Lumia flagship phone announced in April of last year.

Apparently, both main cameras will come with a triple-LED flash, with each LED sporting a different tone. It’s said that this will lead to more natural-looking flash-lit shots.

The source also has something to say on how Windows 10 will work on these smartphones, with the ability to pass calls and other functions between Windows devices in a similar manner to Apple’s Handoff feature.
