Twitter Passes 100m Users

Twitter has passed the 100 million active users mark with an
average of 230m tweets being sent every day.

Twitter used the landmark figure of 100m users to reveal
some interesting statistics about the micro-blogging site. As well as revealing
that 230m tweets are sent out every day, Twitter also revealed that half of its
active user base, access the service every day.

The statistics include data from the web portal, official
Twitter apps as well as third-party apps such as Tweetdeck, which is said to account for one in five tweets.

The service started out just five years ago and now boasts
users as diverse as Barack Obama,
the Dalai Lama and Jordan – and of course TrustedReviews.

Twitter

Twitter has seen incredible growth of 70 per cent to its
website since the start of 2011 with 400m monthly unique visitors.

The next step for Twitter will be to make the service more profitable,
and with $760m dollars already invested in the business, there will be a lot of
people pushing for this to happen sooner rather than later.

Recent reports suggest that ads will soon be rolled out within
Twitter to complement the promoted tweets which we already see. The executives
at Twitter will be wary of user backlash if ads become too invasive and so will
need to carry out a delicate balancing act if the service is to grow even
further.
