Turn your iPhone into a VR video camera with the Insta360 Nano

VR is the next big thing, and companies are rushing to jump aboard the virtual bandwagon with new headsets, apps, and gadgets.

But it’s not all about gaming. 360-degree video is becoming increasingly popular, with everyone from musicians to the New York Times releasing immersive video experiences.

As such, 360-degree cameras are set to take off among consumers, and new firm Insta360 has a few ideas about how best to serve such needs.

Its new Insta360 Nano camera is a pocket-sized device that connects to your iPhone via a built-in Lightning connector – allowing for quick transferring of media to your handset.

Whereas other options tend to rely on wireless connections, the Insta360 Nano’s Lightning connection, in conjunction with the proprietary app, should make sharing files and live-streaming much quicker and more stable.

Featuring two 210-degree lenses, the camera is capable of capturing 360-degree 3K footage at 30 frames per second, and allows you to live-stream via Facebook or WeChat.

You’ll be able to record up to 70 minutes of footage according to Insta360, and the camera comes in five colours.

It also works with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 6S Plus – sorry, iPhone SE owners.

The Nano Cam is set to start shipping on July 31, and can be pre-ordered from Amazon for £219 by clicking the link above.
