No, we can't believe it either!
IT shocks seem to be all the rage at the moment. First was the unbelievable raw power of the next gen consoles (outlined in great detail here, here and kind of here, then Intel inked its deal with Apple and now Palm (formerly palmOne, formerly Palm!?!) snuggles up with Microsoft. Just what the hell is going on?
Interestingly, the device Windows Mobile is shown on is the upcoming Treo 670 (below, excuse the blur) and given that we loved the 650 with its palmOS based system, it will be interesting to see if the company abandons its own operating system completely or gives users a choice? Personally, I’m not holding out too much hope for the latter and I’m sure Yoz is crying into his 650 as we speak (careful with those electrics Yoz).
That said, the switch to the mainstream does show Palm’s intention to mix it up with big hitter Blackberry (seen in every Pimped Ride) and the endless Windows Mobile and Symbian smartphone variants already out there. As for the 670 itself, we don’t know a lot other than it should sport Bluetooth, a 1.3 megapixel camera, EVDO and the (constantly) aforementioned Windows Mobile 5.0.
When will it be out? What will it cost? Currently these are pie in the sky questions, but we’ll scribble you another story when we find out.
(So Intel couples with Apple and Palm couples with Microsoft. Perhaps its time for me to finally pop the question to Adriana Lima ”*She will be mine*”)
