Trago: The connected, smart water bottle

We all know we should stay hydrated, but do you really know how much water you should be drinking? Trago is here to help.

It’s a smart water bottle that – you guessed it – advises on how much to drink and when. Only the top part is smart – it fits on any standard wide-mouth water bottle. Connect it to your phone over Bluetooth, and the app will tell you when to drink and how much.

It uses patent-pending ultrasonic technology to detect how much you’ve already drunk. Fire up the app, and you’ll see your daily goal and how close you are to reaching it. It even adjusts the goal day-to-day, depending on factors like the weather.

It also plays nice with other fitness devices like Fitbit and the Apple Watch, to build a more complete picture of you and how active you are. Your goal will differ depending on factors like your height and weight, sex, age and how much you sweat.

It’s powered by a watch battery, so it never needs charging. One battery powers it for around six months.

You’ll also be doing your bit for the environment. As you use it, it counts how many disposable plastic bottles you’ve saved, so you can give yourself a pat on the back.

It’s a great idea, and looks a very smart piece of kit. One downside is if you want an accurate measure, you’ll have to drink all your water using it. It also won’t measure water in other drinks like tea and coffee. But that aside, we like.
