Toshiba unveils its first Chromebook with 13.3-inch display
Toshiba has announced its first Chromebook, which comes with a 13.3-inch display.
Simply named the Toshiba Chromebook, the 13.3-inch ChromeOS laptop offers a lengthy battery life and an attractive price for students.
“We see great potential in Chrome OS as it offers both consumers and educators a simple and easy-to-use computing experience,” said Carl Pinto, Vice President of Marketing in Toshiba’s Digital Products Division. “We believe that bringing a more versatile 13-inch model to market will help drive the entire category forward by giving customers an option that opens new doors for productivity, not only for consumers, but also students and educators.”
Toshiba Chromebook Features
The Toshiba Chromebook has a 13.3-inch 1366 x 768p HD screen and runs on an Intel Haswell-based Celeron processor with 2GB of RAM.
Featuring a 16GB solid state hard drive, the laptop also offers access to 100GB of Google Drive storage.
Toshiba has also kitted out the Chromebook with a 9-hour battery life, which is pretty good for such a modestly priced laptop.
“The Toshiba Chromebook will super-charge productivity for consumers, schools and businesses, with its 13-inch screen and long battery life,” said Caesar Sengupta, vice president of product management, Google. “With this new addition to the Chromebook family, consumers have even more choices at very affordable prices.”
The Toshiba Chromebook weighs 1.5kg and is just 2.1cm thick in profile, making it a great laptop to keep your bag fairly light.
It also comes with an HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports, a memory card reader and security lock slot. Connectivity-wise there’s Bluetooth 4.0 LE and Wi-Fi.
Toshiba Chromebook Price and Release Date
The Toshiba Chromebook will be available from February 16 for £249.
