Toshiba AT300SE tablet with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean launched

Toshiba has unveiled the AT300SE, an Android tablet with a 10.1-inch screen and the 4.1 Jelly Bean edition of Google’s OS.

At 10.5mm, the AT300SE is slightly thicker than its predecessor the AT300, but is designed to appeal more to budget-conscious buyers with a £299.99 price tag. There’s a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor on board, as well as 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage space, a 3MP rear camera and 1.2MP front camera, microSD slot, micro USB port and two-cell battery (which Toshiba claims gives it up to 10 hours of use per charge).

It weighs 625g and has dimensions of 261 x 180 x 10.5mm, so an iPad mini rival it certainly isn’t. The 10.1-inch screen has a 16:10 ratio and typuical 1,280 x 800 resolution.

It seems that, with the Google Nexus 10 now available and priced at only £319 for the 16GB version, we might see a flood of more affordable Android tablets announced in the coming months. Toshiba says the AT300SE will go on sale soon.

Is the Toshiba AT300SE appealing, or is it simply a better idea to buy the Google Nexus 10? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
