Shady messages hidden in torrents threaten release of users’ IP addresses
Users of EZTV have spotted some concerning hidden warnings in videos that are being distributed by the popular torrent site.
They’ve been flashing up on-screen, telling viewers that EZTV is a “huge security risk”, and revealing − and offering to release − what appear to be the IP addresses of users.
The messages were first spotted in a torrent for an episode of Lucifer, which has been downloaded by thousands of people, according to TorrentFreak.
“Here comes sample of IPs used on eztv.ag… Beware that site is huge security risk,” one of them warns. Another message, using the sign-off DeXoX, says: “If you need complete IP database, email address of registered users and so on, feel free to contact us.”

It isn’t clear why these messages have been showing up, but some users may fear the site has been breached, or at least targeted by people that have an axe to grind with EZTV.
Earlier this week, legal pressure resulted in Kodi addon library TVAddons blacklisting a multitude of popular piracy-configured addons, making it more difficult for people to access TV shows and films for free.
