Today’s iPhone 7 leak reveals battery boost and camera upgrades

If you thought the amount of iPhone 7 leaks had been bordering on absurd in the last few weeks, things are about to get even crazier now Apple has announced a launch date.
As such, allow us to introduce our second iPhone 7 leak of the day, which, of course, comes via Chinese social media site Weibo (as spotted by Redmond Pie).
So, what could this particular pre-launch information reveal that hasn’t already been leaked? Well, it seems Apple could be upping the battery power on its new handsets – thought to be an iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

The leak suggests the iPhone 7, which is likely to keep the same 4.7-inch form factor as the current iPhone 6S, will come with a 1960mAh cell – an improvement over the 6S’s 1715mAh battery.
And the larger, 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus is said to come packing a 2910mAh battery, which is significantly larger than the 2750mAh offering on the 6S Plus.
If the leak is accurate, then, you can expect an improved battery life, as long as Apple’s new A10 processor provides enough energy efficiency improvements to power the upgraded tech that will come with the iPhone 7.

What’s more, the iPhone 7 is said to feature a 1/2.6-inch sensor, while the iPhone 7 Plus is said to come with a smaller 1/3-inch version.

The latter model is, however, expected to include a dual-lens setup, so although the sensor is smaller, the two lenses combined should, in theory, make for sharper shots, as long as Apple’s software can process the images well enough.
Elsewhere, another iPhone-related leak, as spotted by Phone Arena, seems to once again rule out the rumoured iPhone 7 Pro model.
The information, from Mobiltelefon.ru, highlights two unrecognised ID numbers for “smartphones with the Apple trademark and iOS 10” which have appeared in certification documents from the Eurasian Economic Commission.
With only two numbers cropping up, it’s yet further evidence that Apple will only be introducing the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and not a third ‘Pro’ model.
As with all these leaks, we’d advise taking this latest information with due caution, however.
Apple has sent out invites to a September 7 event, where it is certain to reveal the new handsets.
