Tim Cook just teased Apple’s VR headset plans – or is that actually AR?

Apple CEO Tim Cook has expressed a preference for augmented reality experiences over their VR counterparts, perhaps offering insight into Apple’s future plans.
In an interview on Good Morning America, Cook said there’s greater potential in AR because it doesn’t require users to shut themselves off from other people.
He said: “
“Maybe it’s something we’re talking about, maybe it’s someone else here that is not here, present, but could be made to appear to be present with us. So there’s a lot of really cool things there.”

Cook also said virtual reality will have “a lower commercial interest over time,” which is a pretty solid indicator that Apple’s entry into the market might be more Microsoft HoloLens than Oculus Rift.
“Less people will be interested in that [VR], but there are some really cool areas there for education and gaming that we have a lot of interest in,” Cook added.
Recent reports have suggested Apple is experimenting with both VR and AR hardware and software experiences.
An FT report claimed the company has build a secret team of hundreds of employees, many poached from top players in the sector.
in recent years, the company has also made a number of VR patents and acquired start ups like Flyby Media, PrimeSense, Metaio and Faceshift.
