Tidal’s lossless music streaming service just launched on Sonos

Sonos has announced that music service Tidal is now available for all of its users worldwide.

Tidal was originally available on Sonos as part of an initial beta release back in December, but the trial period has now ended.

The service joins upwards of 60 other music services currently available on Sonos, although it reckons it has an advantage over rival offerings.

That’s because Tidal boasts 25 million tracks in Hi-Fi quality, and offers curated editorial content that’s provided by music journalists and other industry experts.

John MacFarlane, Sonos CEO, said: “Artists are more in tune than ever with how people are listening to their music.”

He added: “The game just changed – Tidal represents the future of music.”

You can get a Tidal subscription for £19.99 a month, which is a pretty hefty charge compared to some of its streaming rivals.

It does have the advantage of offering lossless FLAC 44.1kHz/16-bit audio however, as well as 75,000 HD music videos.

If you’ve got a Sonos system, head into your ‘Add Music Services’ menu on the controller app and select Tidal to access the service.

Once you’re logged in, you’ll be free to stream Tidal’s entire audio library on the Sonos system, assuming you’ve got a valid subscription with the service.

It’s worth noting that Tidal’s parent company Aspiro was recently bought out by US hip-hop star Jay Z.
