Three has given its tariffs a significant makeover, launching a new, low-cost range of data plans for customers on a budget and rebranding its existing packages.
Today, Three launched ‘Essential plans’, which are trimmed-down versions of Three’s existing tariffs for customers who want “a no-frills package”.
The new Essential tariffs – available in a range of 24-month contract plans, as well as 1-month and 12-month SIM plans – are significantly cheaper than current tariffs, and come with 4G at no extra cost. The downside is that you lose Three’s Feel At Home service, and the ability to tether your data through personal hotspot settings.
Feel At Home lets Three customers use their data when travelling in a number of countries as if they were in the UK. That means customers don’t have to face additional data charging for downloading, texting, or making calls abroad.
Three’s Feel At Home scheme currently works in 26 countries globally, including France, Spain, and the United States
“While we remain extremely proud of the unique perks we offer on our Advanced plans, such as Feel At Home and tethering, we appreciate that not all of our customers use their phone abroad regularly or use their phone as a hotspot,” explains Danny Dixon, Director of Customer Strategy at Three.
Dixon continues: “
As a result of today’s makeover, all of Three’s current plans are now called ‘Advanced plans’, and will still feature the existing perks like Feel At Home and personal hotspot data usage.
Pricing for the Essential plans begins at £6 a month for a SIM-only contract, while 24-month contract pricing varies depending on the handset you choose. New customers to Three will also receive an Amazon voucher ranging from £25 to £50 (depending on the plan) when they sign up.
