It’s official, the future is well and truly here.
Forget robot vacuum butlers, virtual reality headsets and self-driving cars though, there’s now an app-controlled gadget out there that will spell an end to most hated of all daily chores – making the bed.
Dubbed the Smartduvet – see what they did there – the connected bedding is an app-controlled inflatable sheet that will make your bed for you at the push of a smartphone-hosted button.
Can’t be bothered to press a button? Fine. The app, which will be available for both iOS and Android, will let you set the bed to make itself at a certain time of day, each and every day – just make sure you don’t forget to deactivate it if you’re having a lie-in, yeah.

So, how does it work? Well, when activated, the inflatable sheet’s grid-basses design fills with air, causing it to fold back into the made position.
Instead of replacing your traditional bedding – those embarrassing Doctor Who sheets can live on – the lightweight, breathable connected device sits between your duvet and duvet cover.
Currently seeking backing on Kickstarter, the Smartduvet has already received $8,000 of its $30,000 Canadian dollar pledge target.
When launched, the Smartduvet will be available in a range of sizes to fit all beds. Early backers, however, can snap up any sized device for $199CA (£118).
