A new entry in the Thief franchise could be in development, according to the upcoming film’s website.
The Hollywood adaptation’s official site makes casual mention of the fifth instalment’s existence, which will seemingly launch alongside the big screen creation.
“Widely considered to be one of the greatest games ever created, a fifth sequel is currently in development to be released in step with this motion picture adaptation,” Straight Up Films’ site reads.
Square Enix and Eidos Montreal have yet to acknowledge the potential sequel, having said little about Thief since its last entry in 2014.

The film also has no solid release date, with production still in the early stages. It will launch after the upcoming Tomb Raider feature starring Ex Machina’s Alicia Vikander.
2014’s Thief launched to mixed critical reception, earning 8/10 in our review. Here’s a quick snippet:
“This isn’t the Thief update that fans of Thief and The Metal Age demanded, but it is a superior action adventure with some brilliant missions and what turns into a gripping plot. Next-gen console owners don’t get much more than a resolution boost, but whatever platform you’re playing on, Thief is a lot smarter and more thrilling than you might suspect.”
