The Withings thermometer you don’t have to insert anywhere is available now

The Withings Thermo – a smart thermometer, which reads body temperature upon contact with the temple – is now available to buy.
The Wi-Fi-enabled device, which is the first of its kind to be approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration, is now on sale from the Apple Store and Withings itself.
The revolutionary device, which an ill colleague tested to great effect on the show floor at CES 2016, takes 4,000 measurements in only two seconds.
It has 16 sensors, which, combined with Withings HotSpot sensor, locate the hottest spot on the side of your head and then send the reading back to your mobile device via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
The device uses different colours on an LED display to represent temperature: green for a normal temperature; orange for elevated; and red when the temperature is deemed to be high.
Up to five family members can have profiles within the app, each of which can keep a temperature diary that can be shared with medical a professional.
The Withings Thermo is even reasonably priced at $99.95, and the accompanying app is available to download from the App Store now.
The smart thermometer is available now in the US, but there’s no option to pre-order in the UK yet, where it will cost £79.95,
