To mark World Radio Day, Pure has announced the StreamR Splash portable radio/Bluetooth speaker, a modern radio for modern times.
The StreamR Splash (£129.99) is a smaller version of the recently launched StreamR, and features DAB+ radio, Bluetooth and smart functionality in Amazon Alexa.

As the Splash name may imply, this radio is a more rugged unit, one that you can take with you on your travels as its IP67 rating ensures it can resist dust, water and survive immersion in water up to one metre in depth for 30 minutes. Battery life is quoted at 20 hours, the detachable bungee cord lets users attach the speaker to a backpack or tent or anything you want to connect it to on your travels.
According to Pure, it delivers a sound that’s big and powerful, showcasing the ability to listen to FM, dAB+ Internet radio and podcasts on-the-go. With Bluetooth connectivity, you can play music from your own music library and Alexa functionality (via the Pure Home app) offers the capability to play music from Amazon Music or TuneIn, field questions, find out what the weather is like and more.
The inclusion of Alexa makes the StreamR Splash one of very few portable radios/Bluetooth speakers top have access to the Alexa voice assistant. The StreamR Splash’s built-in microphone connects to the Pure Home app via Bluetooth, which then connects the StreamR Splash to Alexa; and through the app, you can also customise speaker settings and receive notifications of any software updates.
There are four presets available, so the listener can set-up their favourite radio stations for quick access, or there’s the option of using the 3.5mm aux-in cable to connect a mobile device via wired means.
StreamR Splash can be bought from the Pure webstore and Amazon today (Thursday 13th February) and costs £129.99. Colour options is a choice of Charcoal or Stone Grey.
