The Punisher will be back on Netflix for a second season in 2018

Marvel’s The Punisher is slated for a second season on Netflix, bringing vigilante Frank Castle back once again to take the law into his own hands.

The first season of The Punisher landed on Netflix last month receiving mixed reviews with actor Jon Bernthal being praised for his portrayal of ex-soldier Castle, while the shows rather slow pacing was criticised.

But this was not enough to put Netflix off from commissioning a second season, which appears to be the trend for its ‘Originals’ line up of minor Marvel comic book character adaptions. Daredevil received a second season and the acclaimed Jessica Jones will also be returning for a another series.

Season two of The Punisher is set for a 2018 release, though Netflix has simply said it’s “coming soon” rather than reveal a release date or debut trailer. As such, we’d expect to see it crop up in Spring 2018 at the earliest, particularity as the first season has only been available on Netflix for around a month.

At the same time as announcing a second series of a show centred around visceral violence, Netflix also revealed it has ordered six original series from DreamWorks Animation Television, with the goal of bringing in cartoons such as The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants to the streaming service.

One of the animated series will be a reboot of the 1980s cartoon She-Ra, which had its origins in the Masters of the Universe 1987 animated movie. So we can expect the cartoon to come with a good dollop of nostalgia for people who grew up in the 80s.

With an increasing amount of original shows being added to its already healthy line up, Netflix looks set to have a good year in 2018.
