The OnePlus 5T camera is about to get way better – here’s how

The OnePlus 5T smartphone may have only just launched, but it’s already scheduled for some significant camera upgrades.

In a surprise announcement, OnePlus has confirmed that there are some changes incoming for the new OnePlus 5T smartphone.

The newly-revealed update is in response to critics who have bemoaned the OnePlus 5T’s photography capabilities, and should improve things on the camera front.

In a statement, a OnePlus spokesperson said: “We have seen some of the reviews that mention our OnePlus 5T camera could be performing better and offering a few areas of improvement.”

The statement continued: “Well, we wanted to let you know that we have our team already beginning to work on the following improvements to bring you the following in an upcoming update.”

So what’s coming up? Here’s what to expect:

Change #1: Further improved low-light photography to ensure the detailing of shapes within the image are sharp and clear.

Change #2: Improved selfies, by adjusting the exposure levels for a more natural outcome.

Change #3: Removed beautification mode, with an option to toggle on should you wish to use it.

We gave the OnePlus 5T an impressive 4.5/5 score in our review, lauding the device’s good OLED screen, slick software experience, excellent value for money, and seriously fast operation.

But the phone missed out on a 5/5 score for a handful of reasons, one of which was the average camera.

Still, our verdict remained positive: “OnePlus keeps on churning out the best value-for-money phones around.”
