The HTC One M9+ isn’t coming to the UK any time soon

The HTC One M9+ was officially unveiled earlier today, but the Taiwanese manufacturer has revealed we won’t be seeing the handset in the UK any time soon.

Having debuted at a Beijing-based launch event, the high-end handset will hit Chinese retailers in the near future, but HTC has told TrustedReviews the handset “is not currently planned to be released in North America or Europe”.

Despite confirming the M9+ will not hit the UK in the near future, HTC has failed to rule out ever bringing the QHD-display hosting One M9 spin-off to our fair shores.

Although disappointing, it is unsurprising that the M9+ has yet to be pencilled in for a European release. The handset features a more impressive specs sheet than the flagship HTC One M9, a handset which only hit UK sellers last week.

The One M9+ is not currently planned to be released in North America or Europe, where we believe our flagship HTC One M9 is the best choice for blazing fast performance, incredible sound, and network compatibility across the broadest range of operators,” an official spokesperson told us.

They added: “HTC is excited to bring the HTC One M9+ to customers in China, where we have worked closely with mobile operators to create a phone with the right balance of screen size, processor performance, software, and radio network compatibility to meet consumers’ needs.

“Ranging in other markets will be confirmed locally at a later date.”

The HTC One M9+ is the handset many had hoped the M9 would be.

Adopting a 5.2-inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel QHD display – a step up on the M9’s 5-inch, 1080p panel – the M9+ features a 2.2GHz octa-core MediaTek processor and 3GB of RAM.

With a 20-megapixel Duo camera sat on the phone’s rear, the M9+’s specs sheet is further enhanced by a fingerprint scanner incorporating physical home button.
