Google launched the first landing page for Android 11 yesterday… and pulled it back down again almost immediately.
The site – which is intended to give developers a preview of what’s in store with the next version of Android – was first spotted by Android Police.

Though vague, the preview actually did give us a few clues as to what we can expect from the next version of Android, including foldable APIs and more privacy updates. Here’s what the site told us, in the brief time that it was up:

- Behavior changes – system changes that may affect your app when it’s running on Android 11.
- Privacy features – new safeguards to protect user privacy that you’ll need to support in your app.
- New features & APIs – APIs for foldables, sharing, connectivity, media, NNAPI, biometrics, and more.
Unfortunately, the page was taken down any further information could be gathered from it.
While we’ve seen these sites crop up for previous installations of the Android OS, allowing developers to enrol in beta versions of the operating system to test out their apps before its release, this one did seem a bit keen considering Android 10 was only released in September.
It is interesting to note that Google seems to be sticking with the number naming convention it adopted with Android 10 rather than reverting back to the dessert names it has used in previous years.
This means there’ll be no… Android Red Velvet or… Android Rocky Road (yeah okay, we can see why they’re sticking with Android 11).

Google added a bunch of new features with Android 10, including gesture navigation, dark mode, focus mode, live caption and loads of security and privacy updates so we can’t wait to find out where the it takes the operating system with Android 11.
