Tesla drivers now get free Spotify Premium
Tesla Model S and Model X drivers can take a break from swimming in their Scrooge McDuck-style cash vault this festive season to enjoy some free music.
Tesla and Spotify have teamed up to offer free integrated in-car access to Spotify Premium whenever they’re driving.
Model S and X drivers in Europe, Australia and Hong Kong won’t even need to sign up for a Spotify account as it’s simply built into new vehicles and delivered to existing customers through an over-the-air update.
The full library of tracks will be available ad-free and can be controlled through the iPad like touchscreen console next to the steering wheel.

Although drivers receive everything – including data consumption – free of charge – it’s not clear who is footing the bill.
Spotify’s automotive chief Jonathan Tarlton told the Telegraph: “The car radio has not changed much at all, so what we’re doing with Tesla represents the future. Tesla owners will be able to access a full premium experience, free from adverts.”
Tarlton added that the company expects to make more deals with car makers in the future.
The announcement comes as Tesla’s previous partner Rdio begins to wind down after its decision to fold. However, for some reason there’ll be no free Spotify access for drivers in Tesla’s US homeland.
