Telltale Games part ways with 25 percent of staff amid mass restructure

The Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us developer has parted ways with 90 members of staff this week following a company restructure.

Telltale Games made the announcement in a statement earlier this week, stating that the significant number of layoffs was part of a ‘comprehensive company restructuring.’

In the statement, the company said such a restructuring would make the studio ‘more competitive as a developer and publisher of groundbreaking story-driven gaming experiences’.

‘Our industry has shifted in tremendous ways over the past few years. The realities of the environment we face moving forward demand we evolve, as well, reorienting our organisation with a focus on delivering fewer, better games with a smaller team.

Telltale Games has often been criticised for having too many titles on its plate, and it seems this move will help them focus on delivering fewer, higher-quality experiences.

Due to the sudden announcement, here’s hoping all the staff members affected land on their feet and find work elsewhere.

At the time of writing, Telltale currently has Minecraft Story Mode: Season 2 and The Guardians of the Galaxy in development as episodic releases.
