Technical test coming for Dark Souls Remastered and you can download it right now

Bandai Namco has announced the dates for Dark Souls Remastered’s long awaited technical test.

The upcoming test period will be available across PS4 and Xbox One with two sessions taking place on May 11 and May 12.

We’ve compiled the times for each session below as provided by the official Dark Souls website:

  • May 11 – 11am to 1pm GMT
  • May 12 – 2pm to 5pm GMT

The above times have been translated from the Japanese windows. If something specific for Europe is announced we’ll update this story accordingly.

A technical test is also scheduled to take place on Nintendo Switch although we presume this has been delayed alongside the version itself and the Solaire of Astora amiibo into Summer 2018.

You have today until May 8 to download the upcoming demo client for your respective console, as it seems FromSoftware only wants a select number of players accessing the trial.

Our resident Games Editor Brett Phipps went hands-on with Dark Souls Remastered and came away very impressed but curious to try out the Switch release:

‘Dark Souls remains a phenomenal game, warts and all. This is a true remaster of the game that blew everyone away seven years ago, but that will also mean that improvements to the formula which evolved over its two sequels will be absent.

While there are some visual upgrades, they don’t go far enough and this is disappointing. 60 fps is great, but again as we’ve had that in later entries, the difference isn’t as impactful.’
