T-Mobile Reveals The Full Monty

T-Mobile has announced a new range of tariffs ranging from £36-a-month all the way up to £61-a-month, called The Full Monty, which is the UK’s first plan to to offer unlimited calls, texts and Internet.

Available from 1 February to new and existing customers, the new range will be available with all T-Mobile contract smartphones and at the launch in London this morning, Ben Fritsch, head of proposition for T-Mobile, said the new tariff was aimed at those looking to take the plunge into the smartphone world.

While other networks have offered unlimited data allowances previously, such as Three’s All-you-can-eat plan, they were always accompanied by a fair usage policy which set a ceiling on the amount of data that could be downloaded. T-Mobile is claiming that its plan has no such limit.

The plan also allows for tethering to let you create a Wi-Fi hotspot using your phone, allowing you connect other devices such as your laptop. The plans also come with access to BT Openzone and T-Mobile Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the country and T-Mobile will launch an app on 1 February, fittingly called the T-Mobile Wi-Fi app, which will give you one click access to these hotspots.

When asked about the pressure this could put on the network if The Full Monty gets widespread adoption, Fritsch said that the T-Mobile 3G network, which is a part of the Everything Everywhere network, is the biggest in the UK and has had a big upgrade recently so it shouldn’t pose many problems.

At the lowest price point, £36-a-month, customers will get unlimited data and Wi-Fi, unlimited texts, unlimited calls to other T-Mobile numbers and 2,000 minutes to other UK mobiles. Phones available for free at this price point include the Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC Sensation XE and 8GB iPhone 4. The 16GB iPhone 4S will cost you £99.

From £41-a-month upwards customers will get unlimited everything, including calls to other networks, with the iPhone 4S free from £46-a-month. T-Mobile said it had no plans to offer a SIM-only contract for The Full Monty tariff.

Existing customers will be allowed to upgrade to the new tariff during an existing contract if they are moving to a higher price point, but they won’t get a new phone unless they are in the upgrade period towards the end of a contract.

Fritsch added: “The Full Monty has been designed for customers who want the peace of mind that there are absolutely no limits placed on their allowances, whilst also knowing they’re getting market leading value for money. We believe our Pay Monthly portfolio offers plans to suit anyone’s needs, all at accessible prices – and we’re really proud to be the first to offer a plan like The Full Monty in the UK.”
