SteelSeries Sentry Eye Tracker announced for game streamers

SteelSeries has announced the its first eye tracking device, called the SteelSeries Sentry Eye Tracker.

The Sentry Eye Tracker was announced over Twitch, with the technology demonstrated using games like Counter-Strike: GO and DOTA 2.

SteelSeries’ latest technology is powered by Tobii, the leading company in eye tracking technology and tracks eye movement in real time.

It then overlays that directly onto the screen in real time, so viewers watching the stream can see exactly where the player is looking and what they are doing.

“With our Sentry Eye Tracker, we are announcing an entirely new way for streamers and viewers to see the game,” said Ehtisham Rabbani, SteelSeries CEO. “This is just the tip of the innovation iceberg for Sentry, and we could not be more excited to realise all the possibilities that emerge when your game knows where your eyes are looking.”

“Eye tracking also provides an entirely new way for streamers and eSports competitors to entertain their audiences and use their eye tracking data to train and enhance their gaming strategy,” added Oscar Werner, President of Tobii Technology. “We are thrilled to partner with SteelSeries to realise the impact our eye tracking technology can have across different audiences throughout the video game industry.”

SteelSeries is working with top-performing eSports professionals to establish peak performance, which will then benefit average competitive gamers.
