Answered: Does Star Wars The Force Awakens have post-credits scene?

Post-credits scenes have become one of the more frustrating traditions of contemporary film – but will Star Wars follow suit?

The director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens has revealed whether or not the movie has a secret scene following the end-credits.

The answer, it seems, is a resounding no; you can leave your seat as soon as you see the credits rolling.

When asked by fans if there would be a post-credits Star Wars easter egg at a press conference today, JJ Abrams responded:

No, there’s not. All the scenes are actually in the movie.”

That puts a stopper on recent rumours that The Force Awakens’ ending would tease 2016’s Star Wars Rogue One movie.

Fortunately, we no longer have to suffer through endless credits just for the chance of glimpsing a teaser trailer that will inevitably end up on YouTube the next day.

Thanks, JJ.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is due to release on 17 December in the UK, and 18 December  in the US.

It’s the seventh entry to the main Star Wars film franchise, and is set around 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983).

The movie is being directed, co-produced, and co-written by JJ Abrams, and stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.

It is the first of three new Star Wars movies that were announced following Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm in October 2012.
