Avoid Star Wars spoilers with The Force Awakens browser add-on

Evil comes in many forms, but few things are as dastardly as the dreaded movie spoiler.

But you needn’t fall foul of ruined plotlines ever again, thanks to a new spoiler-dodging Chrome extension.

The add-on is called ‘Star Wars Spoiler Block’, and will shield your innocent eyes from inconsiderate comments and content.

First spotted by TechCrunch, the extension – which is a small 155kb file – has the following description:

This extension blurs a page if ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ spoilers are detected.”

It’s built by Alex Jumasev and Max Al Farakh, the creators of the JitBit help-desk software.

There’s no real set-up involved; just install and continue browsing as normal, albeit safe in the knowledge that you won’t inadvertently read a Star Wars spoiler.

It’s also possibly handy for those who are sick of the rampant Star Wars coverage that’s gripping the internet.

It’s a great tool to have ahead of the imminent Star Wars: The Force Awakens release.

The UK launch date for the movie is set at December 17, while the US debut is scheduled for December 18.

It’s the seventh entry to the core Star Wars film series, and stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Andy Serkis.

The story is set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and was written by director J. J. Abrams, alongside Lawrence Kasdan.
