This Star Wars book costs £40 more in the UK and we still want it
Star Wars has the franchise force to grab headlines world-wide, so much so that The New York Times has created a coffee table book chronicling its coverage of the galaxy far, far away.
Dating back to 1973, the publication’s In a Galaxy Far, Far Away book kicks-off with a feature that had George Lucas revealing he was working on an space film of almost operatic proportions.
Somewhat blowing its own trumpet, The New York Times describes the coffee table book as the “ultimate anthology” of its coverage of Star Wars, with clippings running up to the latest film in the franchise: Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Clad in a rather minimal black leatherette cover, the coffee table book looks like a classy affair. But you’ll need to pay for the privilege with the book setting buyers back $70; for another $10 you can get the book cover personalised with name or message.
But shipping the book to the UK sees the price jump up by around £40 making the £54 book a £96 purchase once taxes and shipping are taken into account.
Now that’s a fair bit of cash to shell-out for a coffee table book of what is essentially old news. But for Star Wars fans, it presents an interesting way to get a glimpse at the impact the franchise has had and the power it has to get the attention of high-brow media.
Of course, if a £96 coffee table book seems a bit too steep, there are plenty of other books that offer Star Wars fans a fix for a lot less, including paperback novels and comic books.
