Star Wars: Battlefront to run at 60fps, PC specs teased

Electronic Arts has confirmed Star Wars: Battlefront will run at 60fps and teased us with some potential PC requirements.

According to new information, DICE is aiming for a 60fps frame rate for the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront, which will launch later this year on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Although Electronic Arts is being quite open about the framerate, the publisher has been quick to say that anything we’ve heard so far about the game’s resolution isn’t true:

“No one said anything about resolution,” said one EA Games Community Manager on Reddit in response to one fan’s mention of 720p and 900p. “If you have heard anything else, it’s a rumour. We have only confirmed the game will run at 60fps.”

As for the PC system requirements, although neither EA nor DICE are ready to give the full minimum and recommended specs list, there have been some hints scattered across social media of late.

“With the Frostbite engine and the inclusion of full PBR, the game isn’t just like Battlefield Hardline or Battlefield 4. Once the team has the game into its Beta phase, they can start testing the game on 100s if not thousands of PC systems and find the minimum spec required to run the game. It might end up being the same as Battlefield Hardline or even Battlefield 4,” explained EA on Reddit.

“But until those tests can take place, we can’t commit to specs/details. Being a fairly hardcore PC gamer, I want to know the specs as well. But… my PC is powerful, so not worried. But I know you guys are and want to get you that info as soon as we can.”

EA Games has also said the game will include 12 multiplayer maps in total, with even more locations among the campaign missions.

“We have not confirmed the precise count per planet. The maps will offer a nice mix of locations and environments. Stay tuned as we reveal more maps, modes etc. in the months ahead”, the Community Manager added via Reddit.
