Spotify’s latest nostalgia feature smells like teen spirit

Spotify has announced a new feature that aims to pair up users with the hits from their glory days.
The Your Time Capsule feature gives users a new playlist jam packed with music from their teens and early twenties.
The personalized playlist features 30 or more hits (mine has 55) Spotify’s algorithms reckon will give you an overdose of what the kids these days call “the feels”
Users can visit TimeCapsule.Spotify.com to generate their playlist on the web. It can also be found in the Decades section of the app or at the top of the Home Screen within the mobile apps.
Teenage kicks
The feature, which follows on from the Your Summer Rewind tool released earlier this year, isn’t exactly rocket science.
Spotify knows your age, so it takes what you listen to and simply matches it up to tunes from the era of your musical pomp.
I’ve got stuff from the early 90s, all the way ’til about 2002. From Nirvana to Reel Big Fish. To be honest, I don’t have a problem with that.
In a blog post the company says: “We are excited to announce the launch of our latest personalized playlist: Your Time Capsule. Available today for all Spotify users* in 60 Spotify markets, Your Time Capsule gathers the 30 most nostalgic tracks from your teens and early twenties, creating the soundtrack for a trip down memory lane.”
