Spotify’s Discover Weekly is the latest bid to master recommendations

Spotify has unveiled a new music discovery feature, which it hopes will provide you with a weekly soundtrack based around your current tastes.
The new Discover Weekly tool offers a two-hour playlist packed with recommendations based on your listening habits from the past seven days.
Spotify says the mixtape – which will be available across app platforms – will be updated every Monday morning and will also integrate data from users with similar preferences to your own.
The hope is to give users the chance to start the week off with plenty of new music similar to what they’ve been jamming to recently. The company says the service will be like your best friend making you a mixtape once a week.
Gustav Söderström, VP of Product at Spotify said: ”
“There’s never been a simpler, more personalised way to discover music, with every playlist tuned just to you every single week.”
The Discover Weekly playlist will feature at the top of your raft of playlist and will refresh every Monday morning, regardless of where you are in the world.
The playlist will focus on offering brand new tracks each and every week, so there’s be plenty to look forward to on Monday mornings for those who’ve come to trust Spotify’s recommendation’s algorithms.
