Spotify Discover rolls out to all users

Spotify has rolled out its new Discover feature to all of its users, providing music recommendations based on your listening habits.

The Discover feature was unveiled way back in December as part of Spotify’s biggest update for years, but it’s only just being made available to all users of the subscription music streaming service.

From today you can head over to the Spotify web player and click on the Discover function in the left hand tool bar. This provides a number of song and artists recommendations based on your listening history, as well as the artists you follow.

It also incorporates curated content from the likes of Tunigo, Songkick and Pitchfork. New single and album releases that might be of personal interest are also pushed to the fore.

Another neat Discover feature comes when you play a particular track, and Spotify will make live suggestions as to related songs that might be to your taste.

Possibly our favourite feature of the new Spotify Discover tool, though, is the Audio Preview element. Click and hold on any of the play commands on the Discover page and you’ll get an instant preview of the recommended music or artist without disrupting your current playlist.

“With the Discover page, we’re making good on our promise of helping you choose what to listen to when faced with millions of songs,” says Spotify’s chief product officer Gustav Söderström. “We’ve made your listening experience more personal, more social and more current.”

Spotify Discover is available now on the Spotify web player, and will be gradually rolling out to the desktop and mobile apps.
