Spotify coming to PS4 via PlayStation Music

Spotify is coming to the PS4 in the form of PlayStation Music, Sony has announced.

PlayStation Music is a new music service is coming to PS4 and PS3 this spring, along with Xperia smartphones and tablets with Spotify acting as the exclusive partner.

“We’ve partnered with our friends at Spotify to bring its award-winning digital music service to PlayStation Network this spring in 41 markets around the world,” said Eric Lempel, Vice President of Sony Network Entertainment. “We know how important music is to our community of gamers, and this partnership combines the best in music with the best in gaming.”

PlayStation Music will allow you to link your PSN ID with your Spotify account, and it sounds like you’ll need Spotify Premium to access the service.

But once you subscribe, you’ll be able to use Spotify while playing games on PS4, something which we personally have been longing to do.

Although neither Spotify or Sony are giving away any details as to when the service will land, there will be some exclusive feature to be had as part of PlayStation Music.

“As we get closer to launch, we look forward to telling you about some of the other great features that will be available exclusively through Spotify on PlayStation Music.”
