Sony Xperia Z2 UK release date set for May 1

The Sony Xperia Z2 UK release date has been set for May 1, three weeks later than the originally planned April 10 launch.

Although the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 rival will be widely available from May 1 from online and high street retailers, if you can’t wait to get your Xperia Z2, Carphone Warehouse is offering it two weeks early.

From April 14, you can purchase the Xperia Z2 from the high street retailer, but you’ll have to be quick as it only has “limited stock available for pre-order and online customers”.

If you’re interested, the Xperia Z2 can be pre-ordered on contracts starting at £42 per month with £100 cashback on all pay monthly and upgrade contracts.

Plus, if you pre-order now from Carphone Warehouse, you’ll get access to around £80 worth of content, including movies like Django Unchained, Elysium and Captain Philips.

The Sony Xperia Z2 offers a 5.2-inch full 1080p HD display running the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Sony’s latest UI.

Just like its predecessor the Sony Xperia Z1, you’ll find a 20.7-megapixel camera in the rear with Exmr RS for mobile image processing and 4K video recording capabilities.

Its 8.2mm thick body comes with water and dustproof qualities and you’ll also get NFC, Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connectivity.

It runs on a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapragon 801 Krait CPU with 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU.
