Sony Xperia Z1 Honami press render leaked

An official-looking image of the much rumoured Sony Xperia Z1 Honami has leaked onto the internet.

The Sony Xperia Z1, which has previously been referred to as the Sony Xperia i1 as well as by its code name of Honami, will apparently be made available in a choice of black, white, or purple. These are the colours available for both the Sony Xperia Z and the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, incidentally.

That’s the suggestion to emerge from a recently leaked press image of the forthcoming flagship phone. The image, which appeared on Chinese website Digi-Wo, appears to confirm that the Sony Xperia Z1 will look a lot like the Sony Xperia Z, with a solid oblong shape, chunky bezels, and a rather industrial power button.

Of course, the biggest departure for the Honami will likely be its 20-megapixel rear camera, though as the image attests, this souped-up component won’t create an unsightly bulge as with certain other camera-focused phones we could mentioned (Nokia Lumia 1020, we’re looking at you).

Otherwise, the Sony Xperia Z1 is likely to have very similar specs to the Xperia Z Ultra, meaning a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD slot for additional storage.

One major component that the Xperia Z1 won’t share with the Xperia Z Ultra, other than the camera, is its display. This is rumoured to be a 5-inch 1080p affair, much like the original Sony Xperia Z.

Expect to see the Sony Xperia Z1 officially unveiled at Sony’s September 4 event.
