Meet the Xperia XR, Sony’s next flagship smartphone?

Sony’s next flagship smartphone may have just been leaked online, and it looks…just like every other Sony Xperia.
Leaker and journalist Steve Hemmerstoffer has dished out a series of images depicting a phone that he says is the Sony Xperia XR. News about this phone has been trickling out over the past two weeks, and now it seems we’ve got confirmation of the phone’s final design.
Check it out:
As is evident from the images, Sony is sticking to its guns and retaining the ‘Omnibalance’ design that has featured across its entire range of Sony Xperia devices. Other obvious design choices include the inclusion of a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual-LED flash, and a USB Type C port.
According to Hemmerstoffer, the handset – reported to have the model number F8331 – will have the following dimensions: 146.4 x 71.9 x 8.1mm. That makes it slightly taller and wider than the Sony Xperia X Performance, but around 0.6mm thinner.

The new phone looks set to arrive mere months after Sony announced a trio of new phones at Mobile World Congress: the Sony Xperia X, Sony Xperia XA, and Sony Xperia X Performance. It’s expected that the Sony Xperia XR will be unveiled in September at Berlin’s annual IFA technology tradeshow.
