Sony Xperia E3 lands as entry-level Android offering
With the Sony Xperia Z3 having been unveiled to tackle the high-end market, the Japanese manufacturer is also looking out for those of us with shallower pockets. That’s where the Sony Xperia E3 comes in.
An entry-level Android handset, the Xperia E3 is pushing the boundaries of budget phones. With 4G LTE connectivity options and a premium, matt design, it has elements which echo those of its big brothers.
“
Unveiling the device he added: “This handset is, to some degree, about speed. It has LTE connectivity and a quad-core Qualcomm processor.”
Sony Xperia E3 Features
As you might expect from an entry-level handset, the Xperia E3’s specs sheet is not blossoming with high-end inclusions. That doesn’t mean this device is a slouch though, far from it.
With a quad-core Qualcomm processor running the show, the E3 is further enhanced by 1GB of RAM and a sizeable 2330mAh Lithium-Ion battery.
Larger than many entry-level handsets, this 4G offering boasts a 4.6-inch display with an acceptable – if somewhat underwhelming – 854 x 480 pixel resolution.
A 5-megapixel rear-mounted camera will keep snap-happy users appeased. This camera is further enhanced by a number of ‘smart camera capabilities’ which has dropped down from the flagship Z-series line. These include Time Shift Burst and Social Life.
As well as the phone’s 4G abilities, the E3’s connectivity collection is rounded off by the usual array of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC options.
Sony Xperia E3 Release Date and Price
Despite having been formally unveiled, the Sony Xperia E3 isn’t going on sale just yet. The E3 release date has instead been pegged for ‘early October’.
A precise Xperia E3 price is also still unclear. However, with its predecessor – the Sony Xperia E1 – having cost just £69.99 at launch, expect the E3 to be equally light on your wallet.
