Sony Unveils Full Santa Rosa Line Up

From the budget buyer to the reckless millionaire...

While the first details of Sony’s inital batch of Santa Rosa lovelies were leaked onto the Web last week the company has now filled in the gaps.

Three ranges are receiving new models: the multimedia centric Vaio FZ, the jack of all trades N30, the business orientated BX40 and all round powerhouse the AR40.

As you would expect, the FZ-es lead the way with 15.4in widescreens and resolutions capable of displaying 1080p video. A Blu-ray drive is available on the flagship VGN-FZ11Z and a choice of Intel T7100/T7300 processors and up to 2GB RAM is offered across the range. Graphics come courtesy of nVidia’s latest 8M series with the 8400M GT standard fare while HDMI connectivity with HDCP completes high def readiness of the entire line.

As for the N30s these are a little more modest as you might expect with 15.4in widescreens which are described as “perfect for watching DVDs”, Vista friendliness, up to 2GB RAM and HDDs maxing out at 120GB.

The businessy BX40s virtually mirror the N30s but add the new Mobility Radeon HD 2300 GPU, G-Sensor HDD Shock Protection, a 1280 x 800 native res, an integrated 1.3MP web cam and biometric fingerprint finger – so, err… nothing like the N30s then!

Finally the AR40 remains its uber-powerful ridiculous self building on its new Santa Rosa base with a dual layer burning Blu-ray drive, T7500 Intel Core 2 Dup CPU, 1080p compatible 17in screen and monstrous 320GB HDD!

No prices or release dates were specified for these spiced up Vaios but expect them to thunder into view over the next six to eight weeks.
