Sony teases new Xperia, coming August 3

Sony has taken to Twitter to tease a brand new Xperia smartphone.
The tweet is light on details, but says the phone “is coming” on August 3.
It also uses the hashtag “#Xperia”, which is why the general consensus is that it’s reference the much-mooted Xperia C5 Ultra.
That’s a phone that’s been heavily rumoured in recent months, purportedly developed under the codename “Lavender”.
Unfortunately, the only other clue about what to expect is the message “focus closely now, a new way to capture split-second photos”.
This suggests photography will be a clear selling point of the mystery handset, notably fast autofocus – phase detection, perhaps?
Sony posted this image with its tweet. Any guesses?
It’s worth noting that there’s been no official confirmation from Sony that the C5 Ultra even exists, so we can’t say for sure what the smartphone manfacturer is plotting for August 3.

Assuming it is the C5 Ultra however, then what else do we know? For starters, we’ve heard that it will use a Full HD display at least 5.5-inches in diameter.
It’s also tipped to run on Mediatek’s MT6752 chipset, paired with 2GB of RAM.
On the photography front, rumours point to a 13-megapixel rear-facing shooter, and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper.
Whatever the case, we don’t have long to wait until the big announcement.
