Sony slashes Xperia Z5 prices, days after launching the device

Sony has taken the somewhat unusual step of cutting the price of its newly-announced Xperia Z5 range, before the devices have even gone on sale.
Just found days after the three handsets were announced at IFA 2015, Sony has trimmed them all by up to 20 per cent
The company began taking pre-orders at the original prices last week, but has now changed tact and changed availability to ‘Coming Soon’ on its website.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, previously listed at £549 is now available from £429 (via Phandroid).
The regular Xperia Z5 is now £549, after previously being listed as £599, while the company as knocked £100 off the 4K-packing Xperia Z5 Premium, which is now £599.
Perhaps Sony has decided that the new crop of affordable Android handsets has already priced most Android users out of going for a Z5?
