Sony PS3 Titles £50+

So 'multiple sources' say...

Here’s a nasty shock for those of you still scrimping to save up for the 599 euro (s)only version worth having(/s) premium PS3: the games won’t be any better!

Impress Watch, a Japanese site citing ‘multiple sources’, claims the titles will be a hefty $100, a figure which translates as roughly £52. The scarier part to this revelation, however, is that we Brits tend to pay a brutal premium on anything American or Asian tagged. Could we be in line for the first £60 and £70 titles? It’s a possibility.

Of course Sony has dug itself this hole. Firstly the console’s nightmarish development time and costs means the company won’t turn in a profit on device’s sales (incredible considering the price), but secondly it has failed to open up the PS3 to developers. The result is a printer-esque strategy of cashing in through the software despite the horrendous initial outlay.

Could the PS3 become the biggest gaming turkey of the decade? An established hardcore fan base means that is unlikely to happen, but right now the neutrals are certainly being turned off.
