Sony NEX-7 Kit Coming Next Month

As well as affecting the lives of thousands of local people, the floods in Thailand have driven up the price of hard drives, affected the financial results of dozens of technology companies and deprived camera fans in the UK of the new lens for Sony’s flagship interchangeable lens camera range, the NEX-7.

So far in the UK, only the NEX-7 body has been available to purchase, for just a shade under £1,000. Of course the NEX-7 still works with existing E-Mount lenses, but Sony has confirmed to Pocket-lint that the NEX-7 kit including the 18-55mm lens will be available for the first time towards the end of February.

Amazon has the kit listed for sale for £1,078, which is £50 or so cheaper than the official list price. Amazon is listing an estimated delivery time of between 21 and 31 March.

The NEX-7 has a 24.3 effective megapixels Exmor APS HD CMOS making it not only the first mirrorless camera system to break this barrier, but the first APS-C camera of any type to break this barrier.

The NEX-7 also includes an integrated XGA OLED viewfinder, another first for interchangeable lens cameras, and is complimented by a tiltable 3in LCD touchscreen.
