Sony may launch a PS4 Slim alongside the Neo – report

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Sony is developing the PS4 Slim, a separate console to the previously confirmed PS4 Neo.

The full story is unfortunately locked behind a paywall, but journalist Takashi Mochizuki helpfully tweeted out the following information from the article:

Despite being a rumour, The Wall Street Journal rarely throws out gossip such as this that can’t be backed up, and it appears Sony has declined to comment on the existence of PS4 Slim.

Considering the PS4 has been on the market since November 2013, the introduction of a slimmer, more efficient model isn’t too far-fetched.

It would also make perfect sense for Sony to release the PS4 Neo alongside a cheaper version of the original console. This could easily act as an entry-level option for those new to PS4.

While the PS4 Neo was not shown at E3 2016, Sony is expected to reveal the console later this year.
