Sony Google TV Box Officially Launched in UK

Sony’s first Google TV box, the NSZ-GS7 Internet Player, is available to pre-order from today. It’ll start shipping from July 16.

Originally unveiled at CES, at the beginning of the year, Sony’s first Google TV is now available to pre-order. Roughly equating to the televisual version of the Android OS, Google TV gives you access to apps, streamed media content and your own media library.

To control the Smart interface, the Sony NSZ-GS7 comes with a dual-sided remote. On one side, there’s a trackpad and a smattering of nav buttons, and the other crams-in a full Qwerty keyboard. This remote will be a big part of whether the Sony Google TV is a success, user experience-wise. However, an app will also be available, offering control via a smartphone or tablet.

The Sony NSZ-GS7 Internet Player offers access to the Google Play app store, but as yet we don’t know what level of compatibility it’ll offer with existing Google Play apps. We’ll take a close look once we get
