Sony has expanded its compact system camera line-up, with the Sony a6000 officially unveiled with impressive autofocus capabilities.
Packing a 24.3-inch megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor, the newly unveiled Sony a6000 has been touted as the world’s leading interchangeable lens camera in terms of autofocus speeds.
Featuring wide autofocus coverage across 179 focal points, the Sony a6000 reportedly plays host to 0.06 second focus speeds, with the impressive figures made possible in part thanks to the camera’s new BIONZ X processor.
Sony a6000 Features
One of a range of new devices to run the new BIONZ X processor, the reworked camera chipset allows for pro-quality stills to be captured alongside the option to shoot 1080p Full HD content.
Set to launch in both black and titanium colour schemes, the Sony a600 is a mirrorless camera compatible with all Sony E-mount lenses. With a 24.3 CMOS sensor, the camera is capable of capturing the usual array of image file types, including JPEG and RAW shots.
As well as sporting a 179 point Fast Hybrif autofocus, the Sony a6000 features a 100-25600 ISO range and a 1cm OLED electronic viewfinder.
With a 921,600 dot 3-inch LCD display situated on the camera’s rear to offer high-end image playback, the Sony a6000 sports the now common collection of Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity options. The camera weights a comfortable 344g when the battery is included.
Sony a6000 Release Date and Price
Although a Sony a6000 release date will not see the premium camera hit stores until April, the new CSC offering is already available for pre-order through the company’s online retail store.
With the Sony a6000 price set at £550 for a standalone body, the camera will be made available alongside a 16-50mm kit lens for £670.
