Someone went and made a Batman smartwatch where you fight crime with your steps
If you’ve always wanted your smartwatch to have a superhero theme, this range of wearables from One61 Studio could be right up your street – but probably only if you’re a super fan.
On searching around the show floor of CES 2018, I wasn’t expecting to find a bunch of smartwatches themed around a trio of members from the Justice League. But here we are.
One61 Studio has created three smartwatches based around Batman, The Flash and Wonder Woman, with the lineup really geared towards massive fans of those comic book franchises. Probably the type of person who would buy the merchandise from One61 Studio’s parent company, Bioworld Merchandising Inc.
Are you after a Batman smartwatch to match your Batman backpack, Batman wallet and Batmam pyjamas? Then read on.
So, since these are smartwatches, they come with the basic stable of features you’d expect of a wearable that isn’t running a fully fledged OS such as Android Wear, watchOS or Tizen. These include message notifications, the ability to take calls from your wrist, plus music and camera controls.
There’s also fitness tracking by way of step counting and sleep monitoring. Of course, all the menus and interactions are skinned in a way to match your chosen superhero of choice. If you opt for The Flash, you’ll receive move alerts based around “metahuman alerts”. One61 wants to gamify the fitness side by providing more character content when you reach certain step milestones throughout the day.
The Batman smartwatch, which is based around the 1960s Batman television series, will let you defeat the Joker by getting enough steps in. Similarly, The Flash Smartwatch will play clips from the recent television show for reaching milestones throughout the day.
The Batman and The Flash models will retail for $129; the Wonder Woman model is a little pricier at $149 when it launches later in the year, but will also include a heart rate monitor.
One61 Studio says to expect more tie-in smartwatches down the line, including models based on Rick and Morty.
