Sky Go tops 3.1m active unique user milestone

Sky’s popular content streaming service, Sky Go, has reached a 3.1 million active users milestone, the broadcasting giant has confirmed.

Originally launched back in 2011, the latest Sky Go user figures have been revealed in BSkyB’s Q2 results, showing a near 50 per cent year-on-year increase in active Sky Go users.

The results, which revealed more than 230,000 users watched the last Manchester United v Manchester City football derby live via the Sky Go App, have shown Sky’s o-demand services to be gaining continued traction with An Idiot Abroad having already been watched 850,000 times via on-demand users.

Offering customers access to 43 live channels including Sky Sports, Sky Movies and Sky Atlantic, depending on their subscription package, Sky Go was last week expanded by the introduction of Sky Go Extra. Offing users the ability to download Sky Go content to their portable devices to view offline, Sky Go Extra costs wannabe users an additional £5 on top of their existing Sky TV subscriptions.

Whilst standard Sky Go users can have two devices signed up to their Sky Go accounts at any one time, those plumping for the Sky Go Extra download features are rewarded with a doubling of their device licenses.

The Sky Go app is currently available on all iOS devices, including the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini, with the app being rolled out to Android devices slowly. Currently the app can be downloaded to the Google Nexus 4, HTC Desire X and Samsung Galaxy S3 Android devices to name a few.
