Sky Go service gets Sky Movies Disney content

Sky Go users can now enjoy a wider variety of content on the mobile service with Sky now offering content from its new Sky Movies Disney channel.

Customers can sit back and watch their favourite Disney movies, old or new, on their tablets, smartphones and laptops on the go via the Sky Go service.

Disney favourites like Bambi, Cinderella and the Lion King as well as new additions like Brave or Wall-E will be available on the Sky Go app, and can now be downloaded using the SkyGo Extra service to watch later offline.

The dedicated Sky Movies Disney channel launches tonight at 6pm and will come at no additional cost to existing Sky Movies subscribers. Anyone who isn’t forking out for the Sky Movies package can grab a 30 day free trial of the Sky Movies monthly pass from Now TV powered by Sky to get their Disney movie fix in time for Easter weekend.

“Sky Movies Disney will be the home of new and Classic Disney and Disney Pixar movies and will offer all new titles at least a year before other TV channels or subscription services,” said Director of Sky Movies, Ian Lewis. “The combination of Disney’s fantastic movies and Sky’s award-winning innovation means that customers will have the chance to enjoy the very best Disney on their own terms, whether that’s watching on demand, on the move or in 3D.”

Sky Go will also be updated with additional content from a range of channels new to the mobile streaming service, including Syfy, Star Plus, the Crime & Investigation Network and Universal Channel from today.

“Sky Go continues to offer Sky customers even more value by being able to access even more shows across a range of devices,” said Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky’s Director of TV Products. “The service is currently enjoyed by over 3 million customers, and we will continue to bring even more content to customers as part of our continued commitment to offer people the best TV, and the best ways to watch.”

The ever expanding Sky Go library was recently treated to 4oD, Channel 4 and More4 programming to enjoy on the move. The Sky Go app is available on all iOS devices, including the iPhone 5 and iPad mini, but it is being rolled out to Android devices much more gradually. Currently supported Android devices are the Google Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC Desire X, to name a few.
