Sky Go Extra has been officially unveiled, confirmed by the broadcasting giant just hours after details of the new subscription based on-demand mobile download service leaked online.
Allowing users to download content to their portable devices for offline, on-the-move viewing, the new Sky Go Extra service will also see customers benefit from having the service signed to up to as many as four devices simultaneously, double the two devices currently allowed by standard Sky Go accounts.
“Building on the ever-growing popularity of Sky Go, Sky Go Extra lets Sky customers download great movies and TV shows to take with them to watch offline whenever and wherever suits them, as well as access to Sky Go on up to four internet-connected devices,” Stephen van Rooven, Managing Director of Sales and Marketing at Sky said.
“Together with our comprehensive On Demand service and our range of award-winning apps, we continue to deliver helpful and innovative ways for Sky customers to enjoy even more flexibility over when, where and how they enjoy Sky.”
Sky Go Extra Features
The UK’s first mobile TV subscription service to enable users to download Hollywood movies for offline viewing, the new Sky Go Extra service, will see Sky TV customers offered unlimited access to a raft of new and exclusive content for a minimal monthly pay out.
Incorporating all the latest films from Sky Movies, including the full back catalogue of all 22 James Bond films, the selection of Sky Go Extra content available for download and offline viewing is further bolstered by shows from Sky 1 and Sky Atlantic. Once downloaded, content will remain on users’ devices for up to 30 days before being automatically deleted.
Ensure simple, truly portable access to the latest Sky content, the new Sky Go Extra service will be available on current Sky Go app compatible smartphones and tablets including the likes of the iPhone 5, iPad mini, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Google Nexus 4.
What’s more, ensuring the new Sky Go Extra service is available to as many Sky TV subscribers as possible; the Virgin Media rival has revealed a selection of new devices now compatible with the Sky Go Android App. Whilst the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is the latest tablet to get the Sky Go Android app nod, on the smartphone front, the HTC One X and the Motorola RAZRi are both now compatible with the newly updated service.
Sky Go Extra Release Date and Price
Available from today, January 22, the new Sky Go Extra service will be made available to all new and existing Sky TV customers for an additional £5 per month subscription fee.
